About KLSRC
The Kawartha Lakes Sport and Recreation Council (KLSRC) exists because of the forward-thinking vision of CKL community leaders in sport and recreation. The group’s goal is to promote the area’s sport and recreation offerings, and to increase accessibility, encourage healthy, active living and support the growth of sport and recreation in the City of Kawartha Lakes. The work of the KLSRC is guided by five guiding principles, which the group refers to as its pillars:
- Collaboration – facilitate improved communication and cooperation between groups committed to sport, health and active recreation
- Communication – promote the benefits of participation in sport and recreation
- Advocacy – be a united voice to advocate for the sport and recreation community
- Inclusion – strive to ensure sport and recreation is accessible to all
- Physical Literacy – promote “cradle to grave” participation and the importance of a strong foundation in the fundamentals of movement
With the support of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, KLSRC is working to address the concerns common to the area’s sport and recreation providers, including issues around volunteers, funding, training and incorporating physical literacy into sport. Organizations and individuals in the City of Kawartha Lakes are encouraged to participate in the Council. For more information, contact us.
