About KLSRC
The Kawartha Lakes Sport and Recreation Council (KLSRC) exists because of the forward-thinking vision of CKL community leaders in sport and recreation. The group’s goal is to strengthen the sport and recreation community in Kawartha Lakes by supporting providers with training, resources, and connections that improve program quality and access for residents.
The work of the KLSRC is guided by five guiding principles, which the group refers to as its pillars: collaboration, communication, advocacy, inclusion, and quality sport and recreation.
Collaboration– facilitate improved communication and cooperation between groups committed to sport, health and active recreation
Communication – promote the benefits of participation in sport and recreation
Advocacy – be a united voice to advocate for the sport and recreation community
Inclusion – strive to ensure sport and recreation is accessible to all
Quality Sport and Recreation – Promote the foundational importance of physical literacy and other evidence-informed approaches to improve the quality of programs
Established with a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2015, KLSRC continues to work on addressing the concerns common to the area’s sport and recreation providers, including volunteer recruitment and retention, training and incorporating inclusion and physical literacy best practices into sport.
Organizations and individuals in the City of Kawartha Lakes are encouraged to participate in the Council and to share their current challenges, successes and best practices. For more information contact us.
