Looking for a way to recognize that coach, trainer or volunteer who makes a difference in your community or child’s life? The Kawartha Lakes Sport and Recreation Council is looking for nominees for the 3rd Annual Volunteer of the Year awards.
Sport and recreation participants are asked to nominate coaches, trainers, fundraising volunteers, event volunteers and/or board members – any volunteer whose efforts contribute to enhancing active participation in sport or recreation in CKL.
KLSRC will continue with the tradition of celebrating the efforts of all volunteers at the recognition dinner being held Thursday, November 2, 2017. Sport and recreation providers and stakeholders will be invited to attend the event at the Lindsay Golf and Country Club.
At last year’s volunteer recognition dinner, Lori Grills (soccer), Kevin Tysiak (softball) and Bernice Mitchell (horseback riding) were presented with 2016 Volunteer of the Year awards. Lindsay Wildcats Basketball was also recognized as Volunteer Organization of the Year for its work to ensure opportunities for any child to play with their “no child turned away” policy.
New for 2017, the community is invited to submit nominations for the Volunteer Organization of the Year award. KLSRC will consider organizations that demonstrate excellence in one or more of five areas: collaboration, communication, advocacy, inclusion, and physical literacy.
Those wishing to nominate a volunteer or volunteer organization are asked to download, complete and return the appropriate nomination form. Completed nomination forms can be returned to info@klsrc.mydev.ca or mailed to or dropped off at Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes, 107 Lindsay St. South, Lindsay, ON K9V 2M5. The nomination deadline is September 22, 2017 at 5 pm. Nominees will be notified by September 29, 2017 and be recognized for their volunteer efforts by KLSRC at the awards dinner.
